Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the largest university in Greece. It was founded in 1925 during the first Hellenic Republic and it is the second oldest university institute in Greece after the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The main campus is located in the heart of the city center and it is comprised of 10 faculties, which in turn consist of 40 schools and 1 single-school faculty.
With approximately 74,000 students (65,000 enrolled in undergraduate programmes and more than 8,500 in post-graduate programmes) and 2,000 faculty members, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is not only the largest university in Greece but one of the largest ones in Europe as well, serving almost all the scientific and engineering disciplines.
AUTH is widely recognized as a vibrant center of continuous learning which draws its inspiration from a long tradition of academic achievement. This can be underpinned, among others, by the fact that so much in science, as in the arts and divinity, medicine and technology, it prides itself in its international outlook.
